UN Women Nepal organises various activities to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment in Nepal. Photography and videography are some of the means to capture the achievements and lessons learned of these events to communicate to wider audiences and for future references. In this context, UN Women Nepal Country Office seeks to create a roster of experienced professional photographers and videographers (maximum four) who shall be employed to deliver series of photos and record videos on UN Women organised or collaborated events, field trips, visits, campaigns, human-interest stories, interviews, photo essays etc.
Duties and Responsibilities
The selected consultant (Videographer & Photographer) shall be responsible for video recording services and photography services to the UN Women Nepal Country Office.
The Videographer & Photographer shall provide the following goods / services:
Key Duties and Responsibilities – Videographer:
- Record and produce HD videos (A and B-roll) in English and Nepali languages to document events, activities and interview key, staff/partners/beneficiaries per request of UN Women to ensure capturing of UN Women’s activities in video format;
- Provide different visual perspectives (close-up, medium range, long distance videos, video graphics, multi exposure, etc.);
- Provide rough edit selections of best footages, with complete caption information;
- Export and deliver audio track of videos as per request of UN Women;
- Edit videos and graphic animations, as per inputs provided by UN Women Communication Focal Person;
- Export final version of a video in formats optimized for HD web distribution and TV broadcast and deliver to UN Women;
- Final approved videos shall be provided in raw format and optimized resolution to UN Women
Quality Standards of Video:
- Ensure videos and videography materials meet the technical standards (properly filmed, processed and edited, etc.);
- Produce videos in a high-quality broadcasting and web publishing format;
- Ensure all video content complies with UN Women’s Video Branding and Style Guidance;
- Embed sub-titles in English, Nepali or other local language in the video as per the need;
- Record and edit narration / voice over where needed as per guidance from UN Women Communications Focal Person;
- Ensure full informed consent of all participants who are part of the video sharing a signed copy of release form as needed and in cases where children under the age of 18 are part of the video, share a signed copy of guardian consent form;
Key Duties and Responsibilities – Photographer
- Take high-resolution photographs with a minimum of 4000 pixels on the long side, with media data embedded in all;
- Select best photographs related to each task (no less than 30) in consultation with UN Women Officials;
- Include caption for each photograph detailing facts such as who is in the photograph with their full names and titles as needed, where the photo was taken with location details – city/town/village/district, when the photo was taken with date, a description of what is happening in the photo and photo credit with photographer’s name.
- All photographs shall be provided in raw format and optimised resolution to UN Women
Quality Standards of Photographs:
- Photographs must be provided in high quality suitable for printing, processing or publishing on web;
- Ensure full informed consent of any person part of the photo and share a signed copy of release form as needed;
- In cases where children under the age of 18 are part of the photograph, share a signed copy of guardian consent form;
- Ensure dignified representation of participants in the photographs following UN Women Nepal’s ethical guidelines and portray them in empowered, simple, optimistic and bold manner. In addition, protect confidentiality of participants where required;
Required Skills and Experiences
- At least three years working experience in videography and photography with a record of providing high-quality, creative videos for clients,
- Familiarity with development and humanitarian programmes/issues
- High level of creativity and initiative,
- Have own or be able to manage camera and other videography equipment,
- Experience of producing videos and photos for international organizations is an asset.
- Ability to communicate in English and Nepali. Knowledge of any local language will be an asset.
