Local Initiatives for Biodiversity, Research and Development (LI-BIRD) is a non-profit making, non-governmental organization (NGO) established in October 1995 with its Head Office in Pokhara, Nepal. LI-BIRD is committed to capitalizing on local initiatives for sustainable management of renewable natural resources and improving livelihoods of rural people who are dependent of natural resources in Nepal and South Asia region.
‘Home Garden Project (HGP) Phase IV’ is an Embassy of Switzerland/Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC) funded Project (within the framework international cooperation; based on Project Agreement between the Government of Nepal and the Government of Switzerland), implemented by LI-BIRD (Project Support Unit) in 20 districts (Achham, Baitadi, Bardiya, Dadeldhura, Dailekh, Dang, Dhanusha, Doti, Jajarkot, Jumla, Kailali, Kalikot, Khotang, Mahottari, Okhaldhunga, Ramechhap, Rolpa, Salyan, Sindhuli and Siraha) of Nepal from 1 November 2014 to 15 January 2018. The project aims to improve quality of life by complementing various livelihood enhancement activities that will ensure social, nutritional and financial security of poor and disadvantaged people.
LI-BIRD invites applications from eligible Nepali citizens who are reliable, accountable and have the ability to deliver results with the highest integrity for the following position.
Job Summary: The Team Leader is responsible for implementation of HGP IV programme as per the project’s goal, objective and outcome. The Team Leader is required to represent the project and LI-BIRD at the highest level with regular engagement with senior government officials, policy makers and institutional heads. The Team Leader needs to have the capacity to work independently to provide strategic and technical guidance on integrated home garden management to ensure quality delivery. S/he should take the overall responsibility of programme management, human resource management, financial management and partnership management. S/he will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining congenial working relationships with the government officials, donors, media, local NGO partners and other key stakeholders.
Education and Experience: Minimum Masters Degree in Agriculture (Horticulture preferred), Environment, NRM or Development Studies with 8 years of work experience. PhD would be an added advantage.
