Job Description

World Vision International Nepal (WVIN), an international Christian relief, development and advocacy organisation dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice, is looking for potential  Nepalese candidates to fill the above position.

Work Purpose:

To lead the Disaster Risk Management Project in order to achieve Project goal and impacts as per the approved project design and donor compliance.(Note: the position is subjected to availability of fund)

Minimum Qualification and Experience required:

Bachelor's Degree (Preferably Master's) in Disaster Risk Management , Environment Science, Natural Resource Management , Rural Development or relevant discipline from recognised university with at least three years working experience in Disaster Risk Management Projects (previous experience working in ECHO funded Projects are preferable), demonstrated experience and effectiveness preferably in an I/NGO context in working with community/grassroots people and organisations, specially focusing on Disaster Risk Management Projects, extensive experience and recognized expertise in models and methods of training,facilitation and capacity building, project management and organisational developments for staffs and communities,good understanding and experience about Nepal Government's strategies,policies,guidelines,plans about Disaster Risk management and Education Sector, ability to identify and provide suggestions to address disaster risk management issues at various levels in the South Asian context.

Core competencies:

competent in using MS WORD ,MS EXCEL and Power Point presentation,ability to operate effectively and sensitively in the cultural context of Nepal ,willingness to commit to World Vision ethos ,vision,mission and core values,experience in using logical frameworks,project evaluation and monitoring,strong facilitation skills, including catalysing,connecting and building the capacity of community groups,self-motivated,confident,independent,creative with strong analytical and interpersonal skills,ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and maintain confedentiality,positive learning attitude and concern for the poor and vulnerable people , good report writing skills, with fluency in Nepali and English - both oral and written ,excellent communications and negotiation skills.
