Job Description

Management Structure:

Reports to: Medical Lead

Location: Bayalpata Hospital, Achham

Must Haves:

  • Experienced and good track record of reliable and quality work with time management skills
  • Self-starter and a Problem solver with a passion and ability to learn quickly
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from recognized University/Board/Institutions
  • Knowledge and experience on good clinical laboratory practice along with standardized laboratory process
  • Ability to work on QX and QA for the quality improvement of laboratory test
  • Ability to work effectively in a team for the patient's care

Big 3 Responsibilities:  

  1. Lead Laboratory team (ensure duty rosters, conduct monthly meetings, team’s performance appraisal, regular 1:1 meetings, and identify training needs) 
  2. Make sure the clinical laboratory services are maintained high-quality using standard protocols. 
  3. Ensure dignified, and evidence-based care to all patients.  

Areas of Responsibility: 

Lead Laboratory team (prepare duty rosters, conduct monthly meetings, team’s performance appraisal, regular 1:1 meetings, and identify training needs) 

  • Supervise, mentor, and guide team; conduct timely 1:1, and provide constructive feedback to the team members for their growth and career development; and provide constructive feedback. 
  • Mentor team members for laboratory skills, and in soft skills, and management skills. 
  • Make sure all the team members are following organization SOPs, policies, and procedures 
  • Make sure of team members’ leave/absenteeism is properly managed in accordance with the workload consulting the line manager. 
  • Identify and facilitate training needs for all the team members under direct supervision. 
  • Conduct projects and assist in quality improvement and in research activities. 
  • Support line manager in the budget preparation and expense control activities. 
  • Prepare and review the execution of OKR (including teams) in alignment with the direct manager. 
  • Oversee the manager’s functions of the onboarding process, including review of OKRs, AoRs, org culture code, and management systems, coordinating with line manager.  

Make sure the clinical laboratory services are maintained high-quality using standard protocols. 

  • Proactively work on clinical laboratory-related SOPs/ Guidelines/ Policy for the standardization. 
  • Maintain databases that are required for NHN, government, and research purposes. 
  • Perform major laboratory works (Thyroid functions, GENEXPERT, Viral Load, etc) based on the skill set determined; and as assigned/suggested by the line manager. 
  • Ensure standard safety measures suited for our lab setting.   

Ensure dignified, and evidence-based care to all patients. 

  • Ensure participation of the team in morning CME 
  • Make sure that the team members are using organizational project management and informative tools like Asana, Rigo, Small Improvement, Gmail, and Nepal EHR regularly. 
  • Work collaboratively with line manager on drafting and upgrading SOPs
