Job Description

Nyaya Health Nepal is seeking MDGP who will be responsible for providing inpatients and emergency clinical care to the patients of Nyaya Health Nepal, Bayalpata Hospital, Achham with high standards of patients care. Nyaya Health Nepal, a Nepal-based NGO, delivers healthcare to underserved communities in Nepal in partnership with the Ministry of Social Development, Sudoorpaschim Provincial government, Nepal. Mobilizing global health best practices and on-the-ground implementation research, our team envisions a future where everyone is guaranteed universal health coverage as a human right, not a privilege. Our over 200+ staff members in Nepal deliver care to almost 200,000 people through our integrated healthcare approach, which involves the strategic use of technology and data to coordinate care across facilities and the community.

Management Structure:

Reports To: Medical Director - Achham

Direct Reports: Medical Team + EHR Team

Location: Achham

Big 3 Responsibilities:

1.    Provide direct clinical and surgical care as a GP

2.    Oversee the functioning of the surgical care program

3.    Train & educate non-physician staff in best practices, up-to-date evidence, & advanced care techniques

Areas of Responsibility (AoRs):

Provide direct clinical and surgical care as a GP

·        Perform surgical care appropriate to the level of ability and training of a GP

·        Perform inpatient, outpatient, and emergency care appropriate to the level of ability and training of a GP

·        Ensure spending minimum 3 hours in out-patient department every day when there are 3 GPs at BH

  • Perform and support Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon in orthopedic surgeries and learn and build your capacity to perform orthopedic surgeries under the guidance of Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon

·        Task shift & train clinical staff to perform clinical care up to an appropriate level.

  • Provide evidence-based medical treatment of in-patients, out-patients, and outreach activities
  • Rigorously document all valid medical services provided in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Participate in public health and clinical programs designed by Nyaya Health Nepal
  • In consultation with Medical Director and GPs ensure minimum one GP in the hospital all the time. Perform additional duties requested by direct manager and the Medical Director

     Oversee the functioning of the surgical care program

·        Oversee surgical staff, and oversee the operating room staffing rotation

·        Ensure coordination with Community Healthcare Team for follow-up of surgical patients by community health workers

Train and educate staff physicians and non-physician staff in best practices, up-to-date evidence, and advanced care techniques

·        Conduct trainings, lectures and clinical mentoring with the staff physicians and non-physician providers;

·        Teach clinical staff new practices in evidence-based medicine;

·        Perform bedside teaching with other providers.

·        Attend daily morning update standing meetings and daily CMEs on time

Lead and participate in organization-wide quality improvement initiatives

·        Lead and participate in mortality and morbidity conferences

·        Participate actively in data review conferences

·        Lead and engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives, including current quality teams for each focal area

·        Lead and participate in hospital standard operating procedures, formulary, and strategy development.

Ensure that staff that fall underneath in the organizational chart (direct reports and direct reports’ direct reports) follow NHN organizational and management culture practices

·        Ensure compliance with the organization’s performance evaluation tool and calendar

·        Conduct a weekly one-on-one meeting with all direct reports

·        Be responsible for corrective action and termination any employees who are not meeting expectations

·        Be the hiring lead for any direct reports; assist with direct reports in their function as hiring lead with staff under them

·        Oversee the manager’s functions of the onboarding process, including review of AoRs, org culture code, and management system

·        Ensure that the appropriate requests and collaboration are being made with the NHN Operations team for all Human Resources, Financial, Procurement, and Facilities matters

·        Ensure that clinical care is delivered at high quality and at low cost
