Job Description

Nyaya Health Nepal, a Nepal-based NGO, delivers healthcare to underserved communities in Nepal in partnership with the Ministry of Social Development, Sudoorpaschim Provincial government, Nepal. Mobilizing global health best practices and on-the-ground implementation research, our team envisions a future where everyone is guaranteed universal health coverage as a human right, not a privilege. Our over 200+ staff members in Nepal deliver care to almost 200,000 people through our integrated healthcare approach, which involves the strategic use of technology and data to coordinate care across facilities and the community.

Management Structure:

Reports to: Senior Tab Technician (Or Manager of Clinical Support Service)

Location: Bayalpata Hospital, Achham

Must-haves:

·        Required qualification: Proficiency Certificate Level (3 Years, PCL) in Lab Technology or equivalent degree from a recognized institute and registered in NHPC.

·        Clinical experience: We prefer that who have got at least 2-year experience of in providing clinical services. 

Big 3 Responsibilities:

 1. Facilitate direct manager in (Preparing duty rosters conduct monthly meetings, team's performance appraisal, regular 1:1 meetings, and identify training needs).

2. Make sure the clinical laboratory services are maintained high-quality using standard protocols.

3. Ensure dignified, and evidence- based care to all patients.

Areas of Responsibility (AoRs):

Facilitate direct manager in (Preparing duty rosters conduct monthly meetings, team's performance appraisal, regular 1:1 meetings, and identify training needs).

·        Participate in 1:1 meetings timely and seek constructive feedback.

·        Mentor team members for laboratory skills and in soft skills and management skills, whenever needed.

·        Follow organization SOPs, policies and procedures, and support line manager in leave management.

·        Assist in quality improvement projects and in research activities.

Make sure the clinical laboratory services are maintained high-quality using standard protocols.

·        Proactively support line manager on execution of laboratory related SOPs/Policy for the standardization.

·        Maintain databases that are required for NHN, government and research propose.

·        Perform laboratory works based on skill set determined, and as assigned by the line manager.

·        Ensure standard safety measures including cleanliness suited for our lab setting.

·        Construct, maintain and operate standard laboratory equipment, for example cell coulter analyzer, semi-automated analyzer, ISE analyzer, centrifuges, titrators, pipetting machines along with other advanced laboratory equipment.

·        Drawing blood, running lab tests including hematology, biochemistry, immunology, Parasitology, blood transfusion, Microbiology.

·        Instruct patient regarding urine specimen, collection, sputum, collection under the guideline.

·        General reporting include (Glucose, urea, creatinine, bilirubin, HB estimation, TLC, Urine RME, Stool RME)

·        Cross Check the laboratory instrument by doing manually.

·        Perform the quality control specimen and calibrate the machine if needed.

·        Perform general practice of microbiology and HbA1c.

·        Ensure standard safety measures including cleanliness suited for our lab setting.

·        Arrangement of reagent, required instrument and other requirements before starting work.

·        Properly manage stocks (reagents, equipment, etc.) to keep lab functioning at the highest level.

·        Record the laboratory stock and request reagent, instrument and others material whenever required.

Ensure dignified, and evidence- based care to all patients.

·        Participate in morning update meeting and Continue Medical Education (CME) class.

·        Use organizational project management and informative tools like Asana, Rigo HR, Small improvement. Gmail, G-call and Nepal EHR regularly.

·        Work collaboratively with line manager on drafting and upgrading SOPs.

·        To participate in writing needed SOPs for departments HA’s work.

·        To represent BH in the community and with the DHO in its best interests.
