Job Description

The major responsibilities

  • Oversee the technical aspects of project implementation and lead the development of strategies to support enrollment, accelerated learning, retention, re-entry, increased grade transition rates will increase, and decreased drop-out rates for marginalized learners grades 6-10 and other goals as per project description.
  •  Using Social Behavior Change approaches to address harmful socio-cultural norms that lead to early dropout using evidence-based interventions regarding reduced child marriage, improve MHH and the provision of safe, clean, private and hygienic school facilities, decrease discrimination and bias, increased knowledge, engagement and demand for education among youth, parents, caregivers, and communities.
  • Strategize, Troubleshoot and Problem solve technical challenges during implementation
  • Support approaches to include children with disability to improve learning outcomes
  • Manage consultancies for the development of educational, training or other content to deliver project results
  • Provide technical guidance on baseline instruments, review assessment results to inform strategies
  • Provide technical review and feedback on feasibility of proposed work plans; provide adjustments and recommendations as needed

Partnership Engagement, Building Capacity:

  • Identify and actively engage with strategic partners, including key bilateral donors, relevant Education actors at all levels, and local TVETS to ensure coordination and collaboration
  • Build capacity of Local Education implementing partners, existing Local government education systems, and project staff
  • Ensure quality implementation of disbursement linked indicators related to equity and inclusion activities under the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology’s School Education Sector Plan If successful, municipalities executing School Sector Development Plan DLI linked conditional grants to improve and municipalities reporting progress on DLIs 

People Management and Capacity Building

  • Must promote high team morale, especially within highly stressful fragile contexts and environments
  • Must advocate and prioritise the best interest of beneficiaries
  • Ensure quality staff are attracted, retained, and developed to effectively work
  • Ensure there are clear and deliberate retention plans specific to individual staff members and succession plans in place
  • Cultivate an atmosphere of staff empowerment and motivation leading to active participation in programme initiatives, lead by example, and actively engage with all staff
