Job Description

Practical Action is an INGO which aims to reduce poverty through wider use of appropriate technologies in developing countries. It works in more than 45 countries through its offices in Bangladesh, Bolivia, India, Kenya, Nepal, Peru, Rwanda, Sri Lanka, Sudan and Zimbabwe. Practical Action seeks to recruit the following personnel to work with the Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Programme team.

Climate Change Officer (Kathmandu based):

The incumbent will work under the DFID funded Climate Proofing Growth and Development (CPGD) Project and report to the Project Manager. The incumbent shall be responsible to implement and monitor climate change activities in coordination with partners and stakeholders, carry out necessary action and policy research, develop knowledge materials, prepare reports and support in record keeping and financial reporting.

Minimum qualification required is Bachelor's degree in related discipline with five years of relevant work experience or a Master's Degree in Climate Change, Climate Science, Environment Science or Social Science with three years of relevant work experience. Proven experience of participatory approaches in programme/project development and implementation including technical writing skills with strong communication, analytical and research skills are must. Understanding of national and international level climate change key policy and programming will be an asset.
