Job Description

The Backup Administrator will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the organization's backup and recovery processes to ensure data protection and business continuity. The Backup Administrator will work closely with other IT staff to ensure the timely and accurate backup and recovery of critical systems, data, and applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement backup and recovery strategies for the organization's critical systems, data, and applications.
  • Manage backup and recovery operations, including scheduling, monitoring, and troubleshooting backup jobs.
  • Test backup and recovery procedures to ensure data accuracy and system availability.
  • Perform regular backups and maintain backup storage systems.
  • Manage backup software, including updates and maintenance.
  • Work with other IT staff to ensure backups are taken in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices for data backup and recovery.
  • Develop and maintain backup and recovery documentation, reports, including policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Provide training and support to end-users on data backup and recovery procedures.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or 2+ years of experience in backup and recovery operations.
  • Experience with backup software such as Veritas NetBackup, Veritas Backup Exec, Rubrik, Commvault, and Tape libraries.
  • Knowledge of backup and recovery best practices, including retention policies, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
  • Familiarity with storage technologies, including SAN, NAS, and cloud storage.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of cloud technologies and concepts is a plus

Job Demands:

  • Must be willing to carry a cell phone, be on-call and occasionally work odd hours to help meet service level agreements
