Adam Smith International will be tendering for a UK Department of International Development (DFID) funded women's economic empowerment (WEE) project in Nepal, which is anticipated later this year This project is tasked with developing innovative solutions to the challenges faced by working-age adolescent girls and women in accessing meaningful economic opportunities.
Interventions will tackle both the "supply side" - working with a range of organisations from the public and private sector and civil society to deliver better and more appropriate products and services to women and girls-and the "demand-side", understanding and addressing constraints that prevent women and girls from effectively voicing their needs and accessing opportunities. The project will also conduct research to improve understanding of the social, political and economic factors that exclude women from economic opportunity: and facilitate a multi-pronged campaign to disrupt the social norms that act as barriers to women's economic empowerment in Nepal.
